MERIONETH ASSIZE (Bala). CIVIL CASES. PUGH v. ROBERTS. - This was a case of assault brought by the plaintiff against the defendant under the following circumstance:- The plaintiff keeps a public house at Llanaber, near Barmouth, and had sold the defendant part of a litter of a favourite breed of pigs; but , he not feeling satisfied with the bargain, wished the plaintiff to give him another pig. On the 2nd November, he went to her with the intention of having another pig, and took a bag with him to put it in. The plaintiff, refusing his request, the defendant went to the stable with the intention of putting the pig into the poke. The plaintiff followed, and in a scuffle between the parties the defendant got the plaintiff's thumb into his mouth, which he bit until it bled. This was the assault complained of.
