Hughs Views

The next chance to have a look at the community gallery on the big screen will be on Monday 17th October 10am in the Arts Room of the Dragon Theatre. New images are continuing to flow in and the gallery is attracting in excess of 500 viewers a day on the internet. Recently a new record was reached when 3,028 people viewed the site in a single day. As usual Communities First will pay for the hire of the Arts Room and the money from the sale of teas and coffees will go to benefit theatre funds.

Amendment

In last weeks report on the fundraising event for the Huntingdons Disease Charity it was incorrectly stated that the sum raised was £19-59 it was in fact £1,136-59. Much hard work had gone into the organisation of this valuable event and it is good to be able to report that a worthwhile amount was raised in response.

Jazz workshop

Mike Walker, an international guitarist, will run a jazz improvisation weekend at the Dragon Theatre for the Barmouth Music Workshop group on1st and 2nd October. The Saturday night will provide an opportunity for the members to put into practice what he has taught them during a relaxed Jam Session that will be open to anyone interested. Call 01341 280 903 for workshop details. the cost for the Jam Session will be £2 on the door.

Prize winning film event

'Kendal' is one of the world's major Mountain Film Festivals, an internationally known event showing action, adventure and wildlife films from around the world. The Best of Kendal Film Tour features a two-hour selection of the very best, prize winning films from the festival, presented by one of the organisers, Robin Ashcroft, a mountaineer, sea kayaker, adventurer and author. It will be an unmissable evening at the Dragon on the evening of Friday 7th October starting at 7-30. Please contact the theatre on 01341 281697 for more details.

BARMOUTH AND DYFFRYN UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB CUP MATCH AND BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS 1st October, 2011.

Following our Team's success in winning their preliminary Welsh Cup fixtures, the Barmouth and Dyffryn United Football Club now face a major challenge in a First Round Welsh Cup Proper home match against Ruthin Town on Saturday, 1st October. Ruthin Town are currently placed in the middle of the Cymru Alliance League, a League above the Welsh Alliance League in which we compete. So please come and support our First Team players at our Wern Mynach pitch at the end of Park Road, Barmouth on Saturday. Another reason to attend this match is that we shall be celebrating Tom Hughes' 80th Birthday this coming week-end. Tom has been a loyal supporter of the Barmouth Club since 1949 when he made his debut as a goalkeeper. Since then he has been a player, manager, physio,and groundsman. In March, 2008, he was awarded the coveted Football Association of Wales Long Meritorious Award, given to people who have given unbroken support for Welsh football for over 25 years. Today he is our Football Club's Honorary Life President. Your support for our Football Club and Tom's birthday celebrations next Saturday will be much appreciated.

The Parish of Llanaber, Barmouth, with Caerdeon Harvest Festival and Autumn Fair

A Harvest Messy Church will take place in St. Johns Church Barmouth next Sunday, 2nd October at 11.00 am. Everybody who has attended Messy Church in the past has enjoyed these family orientated fun filled events. All are welcome! Also The Parish Gift Day will take place on the following Thursday 6th October from 10.00 am in the Dragon Theatre. Coffee and biscuits, cake stalls, soup available at lunch time and lots more!
