Barmouth News - 23rd May, 2010

Where future events and specific information are mentioned, these are highlighted for easy reference.

Strength of the Mawddach

Inflatable Boat

On Saturday 22nd May the Mawddach Rowing Club was holding a practice session when they noticed that an inflatable craft with three children and one adult had been washed from the beach into the river. The rowers felt that it would not be safe to leave the craft to the mercy of the strong currents in the harbour area and decided to tow the boat to safety. Visitors often fail to realise the power of the currents and the distances that small craft can be dragged and that the river can be as dangerous as the open sea.
