In 1970 Tony left the shoe industry and was accepted on a month's trial with one head gardener to restore the very overgrown and neglected 14 acre garden and 44 acres of parkland which embraced the historic mansion. The views showed how these dedicated men working a 62 hour week turned the wilderness into a beautiful place. The Elizabethan Herb Garden was restored as was the Victorian Vegetable Garden, the pond was cleared, and restocked with edible fish. Poultry and meat animals were brought back on to the land. Holdenby became self-sufficient once again. This was not the end of the enthusiasm of this team who created a pets corner for visiting children also punting on the lake. Annual events took place Jousting weekends, electronic motor racing, vintage car rallies, rare breeds and a falconry area even a Victorian Tea Room in the Butler's pantry. Finally an aerial view of Holdenby today was shown.
