Barmouth News - 4th April, 2010

Where future events and specific information are mentioned, these are highlighted for easy reference.

Barmouth and Dyffryn United Football Club

Barmouth and Dyffryn United Football Club teams face an intensive series of fixtures during the coming final month of the 2009/2010 football season. This starts with a crucial First Team Welsh Alliance home match against Rhydymwyn F.C., the current leaders of the Welsh Alliance League, on Saturday, 10th April, Kick Off 2.30pm. These two teams have met twice during the current football season, with Barmouth winning a Barritt Cup contest and Rhydymwyn winning a recent League contest. Saturday's match, therefore, promises to be a highly competitive and entertaining "decider" fixture, when all football fans and their families will be welcome.

A win for Barmouth F C will keep the Club in the top 3-4 Teams in the Welsh Alliance League. As well as excellence on the football fields, the Barmouth Club also continues with its plan to improve significantly the Club facilities for supporters, spectators and players. Recent initiatives include significant improvements to the Club's refreshments building and a toilet block, including facilities for the disabled. These initiatives have been undertaken with the financial support of Communities First and Gwynedd Council.

Further improvements now planned include the development of an Academy pitch for the Club's Junior Teams, Stand improvements, and car parking facilities. As well as further grants, the Club will continue to arrange fund raising events to finance these developments. For example, a recent "Casino and Horse Racing" event at the Buffs Club in Barmouth raised £900 towards the Club's development costs. The Club would like to take this opportunity of thanking the many local traders who donated fabulous prizes for this evening.

Further fund raising ideas will be discussed at the next Meeting of the Club's Management Committee on Monday, 12th April. If anyone has any fund raising ideas which they suggest the Club should consider at this Meeting, please contact either Wil Huntley, Club Chairman, Tel No 079127 48875, or Brian Wood, Club Secretary, Tel No 01341 280103.

Coming together

There will be a joint meeting of the Barmouth Residents Association and the Neighbourhood Policing Team with the local community on April 26th in Parlwr Bach of the Dragon Theatre at 7pm. Residents of Barmouth are invited to take advantage of this opportunity to go along and discuss or bring to the attention of the two organisations, matters that may be troubling them or their families. This is a chance to make your community a better place in which to live safely. It is hoped that these meetings will become a regular feature on the community calendar. Members of both Communities First and the Town Council will be taking part, all eager to hear your observations.
