THE
CLOCK HOUSE
YNYS
Y BRAWDD
This sandy spit was once an island, and sailboat races were started from its point. I
remember the rip tide that used to race past the Bath House (the large white house in the
right of the picture) when the tide was coming in. The power of that tide was awesome to
see. The town decided to build a wall linking the island to the shore and thus prevent the
damaging rush of water. The island is now an island no more and one can cross over to its
banks and picnic as well as investigate its tidal pools for sea life when the tide is out.
BARMOUTH
PEAK
This is a rocky mountain that lies directly east of Barmouth beach. The walk is
challenging but well worth the effort. The peak overlooks the northern partof Barmouth and
can be reached from a number of directions. There is an old footpath leading to its summit
and at the top you will be rewarded by a grand view of the bay and the Llyn Peninsula.
There is a cairn on top of the peak to which you can add your own personal stone. My name
was carved on my personal stone back in 1958 or so. I wonder if it's still there? Let me
know if you make the trek.
